Every Christian family reminisce about Christmas in their own way. That’s what the four evangelists did. Matthew tells us how Joseph was visited by an angel who announces that the woman he’s bethroted to is going to have a son. Mark starts the gospel with a story about Jesus’ cousin, John. Luke tells us how the angel Gabriel visits Mary and Elisabeth.

John doesn’t mention anything about angels or shepherds, Mary, Joseph or the wise men. Instead he starts his story about Jesus with poetic metaphors and images. They help us to get to know the meaning of Jesus’ mission and His coming to the world. John speaks about the Light, one of the brightest symbols of Christmas.
