Luke begins his gospel by describing events that break the 400-year long silence. The angel Gabriel brings God’s message to Zachariah that he and his wife will have a son who will come in the spirit of the prophet Elijah, will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and will prepare the way of the Lord.
