We are in the end of our discussion of 1 John. He wrote this message in order to give confidence to the Christians that they have believed in the Truth and not to be shaken by the false teachings being spread in the church. He encouraged them to walk in the Light.

So, from the very beginning John directs their attention to the characteristics of the Christian.
