Тhe world of the first Christmas was a place of violence and fear. The value of human life was at an all-time low. Infant mortality was at a record high. Clean water was hard to come by. Food was scarce. Disease was rampant.

Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem for the census. They had no choice – disobedience to Ceasar would mean capital punishment for them. They didn’t know how their relatives would receive them. They carried all of those fears with them to Joseph’s hometown of Bethlehem. And then an angel comes and gives the first Christmas sermon. What do we learn from it today, in 21 century?
