What comes to mind when you hear the word “holiness”?

For many people is brings associations such as long hours of praying, no humor, no sex, fasting, getting up at 4 in the morning, beard for men and head covering for women… As if holiness is life filled only with bans and tough discipline. This makes us think that holiness can be achieved through a painful and rigorous process. But is this really the Biblical idea behind holiness? Are we missing something deeper?
